The Technology

CrossRate integrates eLoran positioning with GPS.  And in doing so mitigates the impact of reduced GPS coverage.  Most notably CrossRate’s integrated eLoran/GPS technology provides position time and frequency in GPS hostile environments including dense urban environments and situations where GPS is being intentionally disrupted.

By combining eLoran with GPS, CrossRate is taking advantage of two federally supported positioning systems. GPS, although accurate, has inherent limitations as a result of its high frequency (1.57 GHz), low power (500 watts) transmitters, located over 20,000 km above the earths surface. Alternatively, Loran is land based with a low operating frequency (100kHz) with typical transmitters approaching 1,000,000 watts.  The lower frequency and higher power of Loran allow its signal to penetrate into many areas where GPS does not work.

By taking advantage of the improvements in the Loran system presently being implemented by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Federal Aviation Administration, users can expect accuracy measured in 10’s of meters.

By combining both systems CrossRate can offer accurate, reliable, position time and frequency with no additional required local infrastructure.
